Adrias is Adriana de Albuquerque Maranhão-

10 years experience. From 1990 to 2000 Iperformed a wide variety of verbal translations, as we say, simultaneous, consecutive, telephonic; liaison (face to face), whispered, sight interpretation from Englishto Portuguese and Portuguese to English providing services to a non-profit organization (SIM). I had the opportunity to work in many capitals of Brazil as well as in United States. Many were full time jobs and extensive interpretation where I was lodged in the facilities of the institutions where my expertise was needed for groups of Brazilians in the USA. I basically worked for Sociedade Internacional de Meditação (SIM), an philantropic society, located in Brasil.

Specialization: From 2000 to 2009 I worked mainly with alternative therapies and  in the wellness market. Thus, based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, restarting my interpreting career, my specialization is wellness, quality of life, alternative therapies, healthcare, nutrition and gastronomy, green energies, ecology, environment preservation, and sustainable development.

Professional experiences in USA, in the 90´s deepened my knowledge of the English language, sharpened my intellectual skills and developed-in particular- the ability of being deep rested and serene for the interpretation while being fully alert to absorb the speaker message. Fundamental attributes to perform a good interpretation.

Often, I performed an average of 6 to 8 hours, even more, daily interpretations during one to more months. Besides, I also performed interpretation in regular conferences in Brazil for this non-profit organization as well as for other clients.

More over, I already had 12 years of formal education in English including studies in renowned English courses as well as a Bachelor ‘s degree in “Languages-Translation and Interpretation” from UniverCidade, an accredited university in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Major in English to Portuguese to English and minor in French to Portuguese to French. I constantly study other languages even Portuguese to develop superior linguistic skills in the native language.

I also have other certifications in the area of human development (yoga and meditation) and natural health system (Ayurveda-Indian Medicine). Plus, I have a wide general culture for I enjoy reading a lot, among my preferences are: Brazilian History, World History, Ancient History. I am also interested in green energies, ecological solutions, quality of life, natural resources.

In Brazil, I have lived in 7 states (south, southwest and west of the country) including in the border of Uruguay, a Spanish speaking country where I learned Spanish. I also traveled to more 4 states, thus very acquainted with the cultural variety of Brazil. Living in Rio de Janeiro, I can easily travel to perform a job anywhere in Brazil, even at short notice.
